| The amount of Christmas cards sold in the U.S. each year will fill a football field 10 stories high! Using cardstock or leftover holiday cards, you can create your own unique greetings. Crayon Shavings Make cards that resemble stained glass by shaving old crayons onto cardstock. Cover the shavings with waxed paper, then with an iron on a low setting, iron over the top of the paper. Magazine Collage Cut or tear pictures out of old magazines and paste them to cardstock to make holiday pictures in the shape of a tree, or star, etc. Pin Point Lay cardstock over a square of carpet remnant and use a pin to poke an illuminating design. Photo Cards Everyone loves to get pictures. Paste all those family photos that won’t make it into the scrapbook on cardstock and write a personal greeting inside, or past them over leftover cards from last year. Potato Prints 1. On paper, create a simple design with wide lines no bigger than the width of a potato. 2. Cut the potato in half. 3. Transfer the design by laying the paper over the flat side of the potato. 4. Using a pin, poke along both sides of the design lines. 5. Carefully use a knife to cut the potato away from the design. 6. Dip the potato in water-based paint and stamp on cardstock. Or, save trees and money by sending personalized e-greetings to all family and friends who are on-line. |
