| According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 75% of what Americans throw in the trash can be recycled. Currently, only 25% is. Let’s make zero waste our goal.
Portland Metro Cooperative Curbside Collection Recycling 503.234.3000 Curbside Guidelines Items to be kept separate: Used Motor Oil Pour motor oil into a see-through, unbreakable container (one gallon is preferred) with a screw top lid and place it next to your recycling bin. Glass Portland Metro accepts glass bottles and jars only. Remove lids and rinse containers clean. Do not mix glass with other recyclables; place it in a separate container next to your recycling bin. In one yellow pin place: Aerosol Cans Empty only. Remove the plastic cap. Please do not flatten, puncture the can, or remove the nozzle. Aluminum Cans Rinse cans clean then remove paper labels to recycle with scrap paper. Metals All scrap metal which is smaller than 36 inches long and less than 40 pounds. Do not include metal contaminated with plastic, food, or other non-metal materials. Milk and Juice Cartons Rinse cartons clean and place in the bin. Plastics Plastic bottles and jars with a neck only. Please remove caps, lids, and spray pumps, and do not include bottles that contained petroleum based products, pesticides or herbicides. No tubs such as yogurt containers, Styrofoam, or plastic bags. Note: Clackamas County accepts clean tubs and lids, such as those used for yogurt, cottage cheese, salsa, and margarine, and bucket-style tubs used for cat litter and laundry detergent. Also accepted are clean plastic nursery pots. Tin or Steel Cans Rinse cans clean then remove paper labels to recycle them with scrap paper. In the second yellow bin place: Aseptic cartons These include milk cartons and other gable-top cartons such as juice, and soymilk cartons. Rinse and flatten, remove any plastic pour spouts. Empty drink boxes, dispose of straws, and flatten. Cardboard Flatten boxes. For large boxes, please flatten them and place them under the bin in stacks no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet. Wax coated cardboard or pizza boxes are not accepted. Magazines Newspaper Paper All scrap paper including toilet paper inner tubes, paper towel inner tubes, cereal boxes, and egg cartons. Secure the material to prevent from blowing away. Do not include tissue paper, paper towels, or paper that has been contaminated with food, wax, foil, or plastic. |
